In addition to the Olympic Games, the world skiing world championships are the most important event for players from around the world in classic competitions: running, ski jumping and Norwegian combination. This year's World Championships began on Wednesday in Trondheim. The Norwegians are the host for the first time in fourteen years. In 2011, the World Championships were held in Oslo.
The first medals at the World Championships were distributed
On Thursday, the first medals at the World Championships in Trondheim were distributed. In the sprint, the women of women was won by the Swedish Jonna Sundling (3: 03.36). The silver medal was won by Norwegian Kristine Stavaas Skistad (3: 05.49, and the bronze Swiss Nadine Faehndrich (3: 06.20). Already in the eliminations, three Polish women were dropped out: Monika Skinder (38th place), Izabela Marcisz (49th position) and Aleksandra Kołodziej (62. Place).
The Norwegians also enjoyed the medal in the sprint with any men's technique. Johannes Hosflot Klaebo (time: 2: 45.74) stood on the highest step of the podium. The silver medal was won by Italy Federico Pellegrino (2: 46.41), and the bronze Fin Lauri Vuorinen (2: 50.53). None of the Poles were promoted to the quarter -finals: Maciej Staręga was very close, because he took the 31st place (30 was qualified) and he ran out of only 0.04 seconds to the promotion, Dominik Bury was 49., Kamil Bury – 53., and Piotr Jarecki – 64.
All Polish fans are waiting impatiently and little hopes for the performance of our jumpers. Five of them went to Trondheim: Dawid Kubacki, Piotr Ży³aAleksander Znobczoł, Jakub Wolny and Paweł Wąsek. Poles will start competition on Friday, February 28 with training. It will start at 17. A day later at 19.15 they will have a trial series, and at 20.30 Qualifications for the individual competition on the normal hill (HS102). Medals on this hill will be distributed on Sunday and the competition will start at 17 (an hour earlier is planned series trial).
On Monday, March 3, jumpers will have a day off. On Tuesday at 17 will start competition with training on the large hill (HS138). On Wednesday at 16 The Competition of Mixed Teams will start. On Thursday from On 15.20, the Men's Trial Series will start, and an hour later – a team competition. Qualifications for the competition on the large hill are scheduled for Friday at 12.15. The next individual medals will be distributed on Saturday, March 8. The competition will start at 15.45 (an hour earlier trial series).
Three Polish women will jump in Trondheim: Nicole Konderla, fields of Bełtowska and Anna Twardosz. On Thursday on the normal hill Granasen (HS102) at 20.20 qualifications will be played. The competition is scheduled for Friday at 14. On Saturday at 17 Women's Team Competition will be held. On Thursday, March 6 at 20.30 the qualifications of women for the competition on the large hill (Friday, 16.15) will start.
Championship titles won at the World Championships in 2023 played in Planica will be defended by: Slovenian Timi Zajc (large hill) and Piotr Żyła (normal hill) among men and Canadian Alexandria Loutitt (large hill) and German Katharina Schmid (normal hill) among women. The Slovenia representation will defend the team title in men's competition and mixes, and the German national team among women.
