From the very beginning of this year's Australian Open, Iga Świątek (2nd WTA) performed great in every match. She went through five rounds without losing a set and finished the matches at an express pace. There were a lot of positives in her game. She combined speed and precision with excellent physical preparation. All this allowed her to defeat players such as former US Open champion Emma Raducanu (61st WTA) and the world's eighth racket, Emma Navarro, without any problems.
Keys was in disbelief after winning against Świątek. She wrote it on camera
Before the semi-final clash with Madison Keys (14th WTA), the Pole was a clear favorite. Meanwhile, already in the first set it became clear that the American “would not sell her skin cheaply”. Świątek won with great difficulty 7:5. Unfortunately, in the second game, Keys showed what she was capable of. She gave up just one game to the WTA ranking runner-up. In the third part, both players were playing attrition. The pace of the match became extremely fast.
Ultimately, our tennis player couldn't stand the pressure. She didn't use the match ball and lost in the tie-break. She lost the entire match 7:5, 1:6, 6(8):7. Immediately after the last action, the American burst into tears of happiness. No wonder, after all, it's not very often that you defeat Iga Świątek after such a fierce and high-quality match.

In the first minutes after the match, one could get the impression that Madison Keys did not believe in what she had managed to achieve. Her post on camera proves this perfectly. At one point, the 29-year-old grabbed a marker and wrote: “Oh my god,” adding a smiley face. Her joy at reaching the final of the Australian Open was enormous and very, very emotional.
What did the winner have to say right after the fight with the Pole? – It was a match at a very high level, Iga played really well. I tried to hold on until the end. The third set was simply a battle. The opportunity to advance to the final is amazing. I'm excited to be here on Saturday, she explained. On January 25, Madison Keys will play against Aryna Sabalenka for the first Grand Slam title this year.
