A series of collisions involving about 15 cars took place on Sunday morning on the A1 motorway in Knurów in the Silesian Voivodeship. The road was blocked in the direction of Łódź, informed the police and road workers. The inconvenience may take about two hours – drivers should choose alternative routes. Earlier, another series of collisions took place near Zabrze, also involving a dozen or so cars.
According to information from the Silesian road traffic, several collisions occurred in quick succession on the approx. Two-kilometer section of the motorway near Knurów, between Rybnik and Gliwice. About 15 cars were damaged in all the events. There is no information that anyone has been harmed.
Previously, a similar series of nine collisions involving over a dozen cars occurred on the Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa (DTŚ) near Rondo Sybiraków in Zabrze. The road was blocked towards Gliwice. There were also no injured people there.
According to the police officers, the collision could be caused by unfavorable road conditions: slippery road surface and fog, as well as inappropriate speed to driving conditions. Braking cars collided with each other or skidded and hit road barriers.

However, there were no major incidents – the police recorded five accidents in which six people were injured, as well as 158 collisions. The policemen detained 31 drunk drivers.
