HIMARS launchers will be delivered to Poland on Monday, announced the head of the Ministry of National Defence

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak announced on Sunday at the PiS convention that the first HIMARS long-range rocket artillery launchers will be delivered to Poland as soon as next Monday. The head of the Ministry of National Defense also reminded that next year, the fifth-generation F-35 fighters will be supplied to the Polish Army.

Speaking at the convention PIS “Programowy Ul”, the head of the Ministry of National Defense drew attention to the purchase of armaments in the USA and South Korea; reminded that in 2018 Patriot air defense kits were purchased, and next year the first multi-role F-35 aircraft are to be formally handed over to the Polish side.

– Tomorrow the first HIMARS launchers will be in Poland – he announced. In 2019, Poland bought 20 HIMARS long-range rocket artillery systems (with 18 combat and two training launchers) for USD 414 million. United States also approved the potential sale of another nearly 500 launchers, for which an inquiry was submitted by the Ministry of National Defence.

M142 HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is a long-range rocket artillery system on a tracked chassis produced by Lockheed Martin. The range, depending on the ammunition, is up to 300 km. Due to the needs of the USA and other countries interested in the HIMARS system and the time necessary to complete another potential order, the Ministry of National Defense purchased 218 K239 Chunmoo launchers from South Korea last year for USD 3.55 billion.

The head of the Ministry of National Defense also reminded that in 2020 the government ordered the fifth generation F-35 fighters. – Next year these planes will be in service with the Polish Army. They were really encouraged by the fact that they start training on these state-of-the-art planes, because these are planes that give network-centricity, which allow the transfer of information obtained from reconnaissance to other types of armed forces to ensure security – said Błaszczak.

In 2020, the Ministry of National Defense signed a contract for 32 multi-role F-35A combat aircraft for USD 4.6 billion. Training of Polish personnel in the USA is underway, and the first aircraft produced for Poland will be stationed and used for training there, the deliveries of which are scheduled for 2024-25.

The minister also reminded that in 2022 the government ordered 250 American Abrams tanks. – And in the most modern version, in this version, which has not been made available anywhere outside the USA so far. This proves that we were able to build very good and close relations with our main ally, the leader FOR THIS “United States,” he added.

In the US, the ministry ordered 250 Abrams M1A2 tanks in the latest SEPv3 version for USD 4.7 billion. To replenish the stock of equipment after the transfer of tanks Ukraine also bought 116 older Abrams formerly owned by the U.S. Marine Corps for $1.4 billion. The vehicles are thoroughly overhauled and will be delivered with zero mileage.

Błaszczak on the arms contract with South Korea and the modernization of the Polish army

The minister recognized the arms contracts with South Korea as a great achievement, including the purchase of FA-50 training and combat aircraft, the first copies of which are to be delivered this year. In September last year, the Ministry of National Defense concluded a contract with Korea Aerospace Industries for 48 FA-50 aircraft for USD 3 billion. Poland also bought 212 howitzers from Korea for USD 2.4 billion and 180 K2 tanks for USD 5.8 billion.

– We have supported Ukraine, but we are modernizing the Polish Army at such a rapid pace that the equipment with which we supported Ukraine has been replaced with equipment from South Korea, the United States, and to some extent also from Great Britain – said Błaszczak, referring to the selection of CAMM missiles for air defense .

He expressed his joy at the establishment of a garrison of US land forces in Poland and that officers with Polish-sounding names were appointed as commanders of the garrison and the forward command of the V Corps of the US Army.

He repeated his announcement of increasing numbers Polish armyexpressing the conviction that this contributes to raising Poland’s status on the international forum. He recalled the new forms of service introduced by the law on defense of the homeland, adding that it also serves to rebuild reserves. The head of the Ministry of National Defense also drew attention to the increase in salaries in the army, after which the salary of a private is almost PLN 5,000.
