At the beginning of the summer, hotel occupancy in Pomerania is around 70 percent. Magdalena Węgrowicz from the Pomeranian Regional Tourist Organization pointed out that the Tri-City and the rest of the coastal belt should be separated. – In classified hotel facilities in cities, the occupancy rate is satisfactory. In other facilities in the coastal belt, the situation looks a bit worse – she pointed out, adding that this year a holiday by the sea costs more than in previous years.

Magdalena Węgrowicz, deputy director of the office of the Pomeranian Regional Tourist Organization, pointed out that tourists usually start thinking about holiday plans only at the beginning of the summer season. – We have been observing for several seasons that the booking window, i.e. the time from making the decision to travel to the implementation of this plan, is very short – she said.

Węgrowicz explained that “it depends on many factors, and one of the main ones is the weather.” – Going on holiday by the sea, guests start by checking the weather forecast for the next few days, and then look for a place to stay – she said.

Hotels in Pomerania

A representative of the Pomeranian Regional Tourist Organization pointed out that “apart from hotels, there are also facilities such as boarding houses, holiday homes and agritourism by the Polish seaside, so this accommodation base is very wide and offers a very different standard of rest and accommodation.” – This also affects how this occupancy is perceived, because it is spread among a very wide range of accommodation facilities – she explained.

Magdalena Węgrowicz pointed out that in terms of occupancy of hotel facilities, the Tri-City and the rest of the coastal belt should be separated. – In classified hotel facilities in cities, the occupancy rate is satisfactory. At the beginning of the season, the operators of the tourist base talk about occupancy at around 70 percent. Of course, July may end with a much higher percentage of occupancy, due to the factors I mentioned – she emphasized.

– In other facilities in the coastal belt, the situation looks a bit worse, because there, however, longer stays are preferred, and tourists decide to stay there less and less often. We have less and less days that we can spend away from home, among others due to inflation and high prices, so guests opt for shorter stays. The seaside offer prefers longer ones, but it also adapts to the guest’s requirements – she added.

Holidays at the Polish seaside – cost

According to Magdalena Węgrowicz, there is no doubt that holidays at the seaside this year cost more than in previous years. – The factors that affect the price are well known to everyone. If, apart from accommodation, the facility offers a stay with breakfast, dinner or an additional attraction, then the prices of food, energy, employees’ salaries affect the final price of the product – she explained.

According to information from online booking systems, for a stay of two people in the period from July 3 to 7 in a 2-star hotel in Ustka, without breakfast, we will pay from about PLN 1.2 thousand. up to approx. 1.7 thousand zloty. A stay in a 3-star hotel in Sopot, with breakfast, costs from about PLN 1.9 thousand to about PLN 3.5 thousand. zloty. For four nights in a 4-star hotel on the Hel Peninsula, you will have to pay from about PLN 3.3 thousand. to about 4.2 thous. zloty.
