The Italian association of ecologists Legambiente and the Italian Tourist Club this year confirmed the primacy of Sardinia in the ranking of the most beautiful seaside resorts. Tuscany, Puglia, Campania and Sicily are also in the lead. 12 lakeside resorts were also awarded. The most awarded region is Trentino-Alto Adige. But there is also a new location – Lake Scanno in Abruzzo.
The “Cinque Vele” (Five Sails) award went to 21 seaside resorts. In Sardinia, this prestigious label went to seven locations. Baunei in Nuoro Province was named the most beautiful beach. In Tuscany, four towns were awarded; in Puglia and Campania – three places each; in Sicily – two. Basilicata and Calabria close the classification.
This is the 23rd edition of the “Blue Guide” to the best Italian sea and lake resorts. The organizers evaluate over 400, awarding the highest prize “Cinque Vele” to those who can best combine beautiful places with the principles of ecology and sustainable development.
The most beautiful beaches in Sardinia
In addition to Baunei, there are six more beautiful Italian beaches in Sardinia: Domus de Maria (Sud Sardegna province), Bosa and Cabras (in the province of Oristano) with the marine protected area of the Sinis peninsula and the island of Mal di Ventre, Posada (in the province of Nuoro), Budoni and Santa Teresa di Gallura (in the province of Sassari).
In the “Lakes” category, the most awarded region is Trentino-Alto Adige. The “Cinque Vele” flag in this category was awarded to 12 municipalities from 6 regions.
Among them, a new place deserves attention: Scanno (in the province of Aquila), on the lake of the same name in Abruzzo.
