Holidays 2023. Which museums in Poland can be visited for free and when

Almost all museums in the largest Polish cities have at least one day a week when you can visit them for free. We checked which facilities in Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Tri-City, Łódź and Poznań can be visited without paying for a ticket.

This year’s holidays are associated with high costs. As we wrote, in the case of the largest tourist attractions for families with children in Poland you have to take into account expenses of up to several hundred zlotys with two adults and two children. Today we suggest how to save – you can enter many well-known museums in the country for free or at a heavily discounted price.

Warsaw. Free museums in the capital

IN Mondays you can enter for free Warsaw Uprising Museum and the Jewish Historical Institute. In Tuesdays you can see the permanent exhibition of the National Museum for free, and on other days of the week children, pupils and students up to 26 years of age can buy a ticket for PLN 1. On Fridays at 17:00-20:00 there is a 50% discount. for all tickets, except for PLN 1 tickets. Also on Tuesdays you can visit the National Museum of Technology, the Museum of Caricature and the Museum of the Earth for free.

IN Wednesdays free entry applies to the permanent exhibitions of the Royal Castle, and on other days children aged 7-16 can visit them for PLN 1. Also on Wednesday, admission to the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw is free. IN Thursdays the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów and the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews can be visited free of charge, and on other days children aged 7-16 can enter them for PLN 1. In addition, at POLIN, a ticket for PLN 1 is also available to young people studying up to the age of 26. Also on Thursday, free admission is available at the Museum of Warsaw, Zachęta National Gallery of Art (here children, youth and students enter for PLN 2 on other days) and the Ujazdowski Castle Center for Contemporary Art (here children and youth under 26 pay PLN 1 daily) .

IN Fridays we will enter the Royal Łazienki Museum for free, and on other days, children aged 7 and under 26 can enter for PLN 1. The Geological Museum can be seen for free every day (except Saturday when it is closed). Free admission also applies to the History Meeting House and the Money Center every day (both institutions are closed on Mondays).

Cracow. Free museums

In Krakow in Mondays you can enter the Wawel Royal Castle for free and see three exhibitions – Lost Wawel, Armory and Eastern Art. Turkish tents.

In Tuesdays permanent exhibitions of all branches of the National Museum can be visited for free. On other days (the museum is closed on Mondays), children and teenagers aged 7 to 26 pay PLN 1 for a ticket. On the same day, you can also see the main exhibitions of the Museum of Photography and the permanent exhibition of the Ethnographic Museum for free.

IN Wednesdays free entry is valid at the Museum of Nowa Huta, aw Thursdays for the permanent exhibition at the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art.

Free museums in the Tri-City

IN Mondays free admission is available in most branches of the Gdańsk Museum (with the exception of the Gdańsk Science Museum, Westerplatte, Water Forge and Foregate Complex). In Tuesdays we will enter the Museum of the City of Gdynia for free, aw Wednesdays to the Emigration Museum in Gdynia.

IN Fridays we will enter all branches of the National Museum in Gdańsk for free (on other days, pupils and students up to 26 years of age for PLN 1). IN Sunday we will visit the Sopot Museum free of charge.

Free visits to museums in Wrocław

IN Wednesday you can visit the Wrocław Museum of Architecture free of charge, aw Thursday The Contemporary Museum and the branches of the City Museum: the Historical Museum and the Museum of Medal Art, the Museum of the Teatr im. Henryk Tomaszewski, the Archaeological Museum and the Military Museum.

IN Saturdays free entry to the National Museum for permanent exhibitions (on other days, pupils and students under 26 for PLN 1) and its branch, the Ethnographic Museum. In turn, the Four Domes Pavilion, also a branch of the National Museum, can be visited for free in Tuesday. From Tuesday to Friday you can visit the Pharmacy Museum free of charge.

Łódź. Museums for free

In Tuesdays free admission to the Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum in Łódź. IN Wednesdays we can enter the permanent exhibitions of the Museum of Cinematography, the Central Museum of Textiles and the Museum of the City of Lodz for free. IN Friday we will visit the Museum of Art for free (and on other days, children and teenagers up to 26 for PLN 1).

Poznan museums for free

In Tuesdays you can visit the Painting and Sculpture Gallery of the National Museum in Poznań for free, as well as its other branches: the Museum of Musical Instruments, the Museum of Applied Arts in the Royal Castle and the Wielkopolska Military Museum. Children and teenagers aged 7-26 will visit them for PLN 1 on all days.

In almost all of the above institutions, children up to 7 years of age are entitled to a free ticket on all days of the week.
