On the night from Saturday to Sunday, Etna made itself known again. The eruption of the highest active volcano in Europe, located in Sicily, took place at around 3 a.m. The volcano threw a fountain of lava and smoke to a height of 10 kilometers – Italian media write.
Etna's awakening has caused major disruptions at Catania Airport. “Giornale di Sicila” reports that the airport there is operating, but in a limited mode. There were problems with departures and arrivals at a previously planned time, as experienced by, among others, Polish tourists.

As Interia has established, the flight from Catania to Katowice was delayed. In a conversation with the spokesman for the Katowice airport, Piotr Adamczyk, we heardthat such a situation occurred and the reason was increased volcanic activity.
Initially, the plane from Catania was supposed to arrive in Katowice at 12:35. Adamczyk emphasized that the plane was already on its way to Polishhowever, due to a significant delay, it took off from the island at around 4 p.m. According to the plan, it was supposed to land in Poland at around 6 p.m.
The delay caused further inconvenience for tourists in Katowice. At 1 p.m. the plane was supposed to go to the airport in Sicily again, but due to problems in Italy the machine will not take off until the evening.
Confusion with the flight to Catania. Difficulties in Poland too

Adamczyk admitted in an interview with Interia that delays also affected other flights, including charter ones. However, they were delayed less, by about two hours.
