The value of contracts for housing loans for households in the second quarter of 2021 amounted to PLN 22.2 billion. This is about PLN 9.2 billion more (an increase by 71 percent) than in the second quarter of 2020, according to the data of the National Bank of Poland.
In turn, compared to the previous quarter, an increase by approximately PLN 4.9 billion (27.9%) was recorded in the second quarter of 2021.
Value of housing loans in Poland
According to the National Bank of Poland, the results of the survey conducted by the central bank on the situation on the credit market in the second quarter of this year. indicate that banks eased the standards of granting housing loans under the influence of forecasts of the situation on the housing market and competitive pressure, and lowered the requirement for borrower’s own contribution compared to the previous quarter.
According to the central bank, the banks also raised the margin on higher-risk loans.
According to NBP data, at the end of June 2021, the amount of housing loans granted by banks to households amounted to PLN 486.9 billion, i.e. it was higher by PLN 6.2 billion compared to the previous quarter and higher by approx. PLN 24.0 billion compared to the end June 2020 (YoY increase of 5.2%, while in Q2 2020 the increase was 8.5%).
