The police detained a 36-year-old who, in Hrubieszów (Lubelskie Province), first stole a bicycle, and later – while riding it – robbed an older cyclist, taking donuts and buns from his basket. The senior did not give up and chased the thief to the block where the man was hiding. It turned out that the 36-year-old was drunk.
Everything happened on Saturday (October 16) in the early afternoon.
– As the police found out, the 36-year-old first stole the bicycle from a 66-year-old resident of Hrubieszów, and then – driving the stolen bicycle – he drove up to the 89-year-old man who was returning from shopping on his bike. He took the senior from the shopping cart. These were, among others, donuts and buns – says staff aspirant Edyta Krystkowiak from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Hrubieszów.
The 89-year-old followed the thief and called the policemen
The 89-year-old did not give up and started cycling after the thief. At one point, he abandoned the stolen vehicle and ran into the staircase of one of the nearby blocks. Then the 89-year-old called the policemen to the place.
– Uniforms arrested the perpetrator of the theft. They also secured the bicycle he had stolen. As it turned out, the man was drunk, he had over 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his body – points out asp. pcs. Krystkowiak.
The 36-year-old went to police arrest.
