Hrubieszow. The police detained a 20-year-old who stole a bicycle and hid it in the bushes

A 20-year-old man will be responsible for the theft, who in Hrubieszów (Lubelskie Voivodeship) took a bicycle parked at one of the shops. He explained that he did not steal the two-wheeler, but “secured it against theft”. He could spend up to five years in prison.

The event took place in Hrubieszów. The 54-year-old parked her bike near one of the shops on Kolejowa Street and went to work. She put a lock on the rear wheel. After work, the woman noticed that the bicycle was not where she left it. She reported the matter to the police.

After reviewing the surveillance video, officers identified and arrested the suspect. It turned out to be a 20-year-old resident of Hrubieszów.

“The man was not afraid of the lock on the rear wheel of the bike. Due to the fact that he could not ride it, he threw the loot on his bike and drove it to the cemetery area. There he hid the bike in the bushes. He explained to the police that he only “secured the vehicle against theft” – said staff aspirant Edyta Krystkowiak from the District Police Headquarters in Hrubieszów.

The 20-year-old – according to the police – will be charged with theft, for which the Penal Code provides for a penalty of up to five years in prison.
