Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban: it is our turn to occupy Brussels

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban congratulated Donald Trump on the X platform on his swearing in as President of the United States. “Now it's our turn to shine. Our turn to occupy Brussels,” he wrote. The leader of the right-wing Fidesz party openly supported Trump long before the November US presidential elections last year.

Head of the Hungarian government Viktor Orbán spoke on Monday in Budapest at the conference summarizing the six-month Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Unionwhich ended in December last year. This was the official reason for the Prime Minister's absence in Washington for the swearing-in Donald Trump for the 47th president USA.

– I am announcing the commencement of the second phase of the operation aimed at occupying Brussels – the Prime Minister said then Hungarian. He referred to the “patriotic, pro-family US president, supporter of peace and opponent of migration” and the creation of a “strong patriotic faction in Brussels.”

In the evening, he posted an entry on the X platform in which, in addition to congratulating Trump, he wrote: “Now it's our turn to shine! It's our turn to take Brussels!”

Orban expects “peace, calm and economic recovery” from Trump's presidency

In a video posted on Facebook, Orban said that Hungary expects “peace, calm and economic recovery” from the Republican's presidency.

Orban openly supported Trump long before the November US presidential election, even at the expense of tense relations with the administration Joe Biden. He announced the “occupation” of Brussels for the first time after the European Parliament elections in June 2024.

FideszOrban's party, belongs to the right-wing Patriots for Europe faction, which was established after the last elections to the European Parliament and is currently the third force in the European Parliament.
