Hungary. Heat records were broken. The temperature exceeded 30 degrees

Several heat records were set in Hungary on Friday. It was the warmest October 20 in the history of measurements, reported the National Meteorological Office (OMSZ).

In the town of Tiszaalpár in the central part Hungarian the temperature reached 30.3 degrees Celsius on Friday. This is the highest value recorded across the country on October 20, since observations have been carried out. The previous record from 2019 (26.9 degrees C) was beaten by almost 3.5 degrees.

Exactly 30 degrees was recorded in the nearby town of Kiskunfélegyháza, and of the 10 warmest towns, none recorded lower than 28 degrees.

It was record warm in the capital. In one of Budapest’s districts, the temperature rose to 27.1 degrees Celsius. Earlier on this day of the month, the warmest temperature was four years ago (25.6 degrees Celsius).

Minimum temperature records, i.e. those measured at night, were also broken. At Győr-Pér airport in the north-west of the country, it did not drop below 19.5 degrees Celsius. In 2019, 15.9 degrees Celsius was measured in Szeged in southern Hungary.
