The Hungarian Prime Minister may meet with the Russian dictator, Hungarian media report. Viktor Orban and Vladimir Putin are scheduled to attend the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing.
On Tuesday, Politico reported that Orban would be the sole leader European Union countries, who will take part in the forum. The Hungarian Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with top Chinese politicians on Monday and Tuesday.
Putin also accepted the invitation to the forum. Prime Minister Orban’s spokesman did not answer the Nepszava daily’s question whether he intended to meet the Russian dictator, who is being prosecuted by International Criminal Court in The Hague for war crimes committed by Russian forces in Ukraine.
Regular meetings with representatives from Russia and Belarus
According to the daily “Magyar Nemzet”, the date of Putin’s visit to China has already been confirmed, but it has not yet been made public. The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs is also scheduled to visit the People’s Republic of China on October 16-18 Sergei Lavrov – adds the Hungarian daily.
Hungarian politicians regularly meet with politicians from Russia and Belarus. In mid-September, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York, the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjarto, once again met with Lavrov, encouraging his Western counterparts to do the same.
