Ukrainians staying at Hungary they can be thrown out on the street or sent back to their home country – this is according to the new government decree no. 134, which changed the law in force in Hungary from 2022, i.e. from the beginning of the invasion Russia already Ukraine.
According to the new legislation, a Ukrainian refugee will receive state support – free accommodation and financial support – only if his last official address in Ukraine is located in an area “directly affected by hostilities.”

Just a few months ago, Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen assured that Hungary will not send refugees back to Ukraineregardless of whether they are conscripted into the army or not.
– Guided by basic humanitarianism, we will not allow them to be sent to their deaths – declared the politician.
