Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that “every day of war in the neighborhood brings a lot of trouble both to Hungary and Central Europe, as well as to the whole continent and the world.” “We are glad that China, just like Hungary, is on the side of peace and is calling for a peaceful solution to the war in Ukraine,” he said.

Szijjarto stressed that this is the 15th meeting between him and Wang Yi. – We have been working for eight and a half years to make relations between Hungary and the People’s Republic of China truly strategic, truly comprehensive and truly partnership-said the politician.

Economic cooperation between Hungary and China

He stressed the importance for Hungary of economic cooperation with China, and above all Chinese investments in the battery sector for electric cars. “Last year, which was a dark year for the global economy, we announced Hungary’s largest Chinese investment in history,” Szijjarto said, referring to the €7.34 billion construction of a battery factory in Debrecen in the east of the country, which has recently sparked social protests .
