A spokesman for the Council assured that the US was “watching these events with great concern.” – We are in very close contact with our Polish allies and partners, making sure they have everything they need in this situation – he said.

– When it comes to the decision regarding the application of Article 5, it is the responsibility of the Alliance as a whole. I don't want to speak here on behalf of the NATO Secretary General, but I do not believe that there is any discussion between allies at the moment about the possible triggering of Article 5, Kirby said.
