In early July, a cat named Finn went missing in Middle River, Minnesota. His owner searched for him every night. Finn was found two months later in Monroe, Washington, which is more than 1,500 miles from his home.
The cat, named Finn, went missing in early July in Middle River, Minnesota. Two months later, he was found more than 1,500 miles (2,400 kilometers) away in Monroe, Washington.
“I found him in a very industrial part of Monroe. I don't know how he got there,” said Stephane Miotke, who rescued the cat. She added that she was driving on a side street she doesn't usually drive on when she spotted Finn. The cat was sitting in the middle of the road, holding up traffic. “I picked him up and he immediately started purring. I thought he shouldn't be there because there are no houses or apartments around,” she said.
Miotke took the cat to the vet and luckily it turned out that he was microchipped. Thanks to this, it was possible to find him in the database and determine who his owner was.
“I looked for him every night”
When Lea Hasbargen, Finn's owner, found out her furry friend had been found, she was overjoyed.
– I looked for him every night. I called him, but he didn't come back. At some point, I lost hope – Hasbargen said in an interview with KIRO 7. – When I got the call and heard that he was alive, that someone had found him, I was overjoyed. But when I found out that he was in Washington state, I was shocked – she added. Hasbargen couldn't believe that the cat had been found so far away, because he usually didn't stray far from home.
The cat's owner is working to arrange a return flight to Minnesota as soon as possible. “Once he gets home, he'll be an indoor cat,” she said.
