The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate (GIF) announced in a statement that it is withdrawing from the market a series of Ikervis eye drops throughout the country. They are used to treat severe keratitis and dry eye syndrome.
“GIF withdraws the medicinal product from the market: Ikervis (Ciclosporinum), 1 mg / ml, eye drops, emulsion; batch number: 4N78E; expiry date: 05.2023; MAH: SANTEN Oy” – announced on Monday on Twitter institution.
“The Main Pharmaceutical Inspectorate in the Rapid Alert system received information from the European Medicines Agency about the detection of crystals of the active substance in certain batches of the Ikervis medicinal product, 1 mg / ml eye drops, emulsion” – explained the GIF in its decision.
A series of eye drops withdrawn from the market
Ikervis contains cyclosporine, which is an immunosuppressive medicine. It has anti-inflammatory properties. It is used to treat severe keratitis and to treat dry eye syndrome in patients who do not feel better despite the use of artificial tear preparations.
