The Paris Olympics “went big time,” as the youth would say. Or at least the young adults of the Zillennial generation (yes, those born on the border between Generation Z and Millennials). A lot happened during the opening ceremony – from Lady Gaga's performances, long-lost Celine Dion, Polish opera singer Jakub Józef Orlińskithrough floating gondolas with competitors, until a parody of a famous painting. In any case, the whole world was buzzing about the Games.

Ilona Łepkowska comments on Babiarz's behavior. She had no mercy

There was also another Polish accent (apart from Jakub Józef Orliński) and it is not about drama Collins-Świątek.It is about Przemysław Babiarz, who commented on the opening of the tournament in the following way: – A world without heaven, nations, religions and this is the vision of this peace that is to encompass everyone. This is the vision of communism, unfortunately – he said. This took place during a presentation of John Lennon's song “Imagine”. In her latest interview she commented on this situation. Ilona Łepkowska, who had no mercy for the old hag.

I think that a sports commentator is not a political commentator. And that's why, in my opinion, his formulation went too far. You also have to look at the context. This is a song from 1971 and the context was completely different then than it is now. Therefore, if a journalist or commentator feels like saying something during such a ceremony, they should think a little bit, because their words may be inappropriate or simplistic. And that's what happened here, in my opinion. I'll be honest, I never had the feeling, when listening to “Imagine”, that it was a song about communism. There is a formulation about a world without religion, but it's not communist agitation. I think Lennon wrote it if only because he knew how often religious differences are the impetus for wars and violence.

– Łepkowska admitted in an interview for Onet. By the way she addedthat not only sports commentators should not deal with politics. According to the screenwriter, it is worth reversing this situation and politicians should not interfere in television.

It is very difficult to develop a way of realizing the mission of public television, as represented by the BBC. It takes years of work to achieve it, but above all, politicians should stay away from public media.

– she thundered.

Ilona Łepkowska on Babiarz's suspension by TVP. What does she think?

Screenwriter “M like love” and “Colors of happiness” also referred to the suspension Przemysław Babiarz by the station. Let us recall that the sports commentator has already been reinstated to commentate on the games.

I suppose it was simply a good excuse to punish him. I read that Mr. Babiarz was supposedly told before the games to limit himself to reporting, but not to include his own comments on political or social issues. If such were his guidelines, then one could say that he did not fully adhere to them. And were they right? In my opinion, yes.

– she concluded.
