Iłowa. Robbery of a taxi driver. The perpetrator threatened to beat him and took his wallet

Police officers from Iłowa (Lubusz Voivodeship) detained a 24-year-old man who allegedly robbed a taxi driver. After the trip, the taxi driver was beaten, threatened with bodily harm, and when he was reduced to a state of defenselessness, his wallet with money was taken away. The robbery suspect now faces up to 15 years in prison.

On Sunday, the Police Station in Iłowa received a report regarding a robbery committed against a taxi driver in Wymiarki.

– As it was established, the man ordered a trip from Żary to Wymiarki for a fixed amount. After the course, the client became aggressive, demanded a refund, started tugging at the driver and threatening bodily harm – explains Staff Sergeant Arkadiusz Szlachetko from the District Police Headquarters in Żagań.

The man took the taxi driver’s wallet, which contained PLN 900, then ran out of the taxi and fled.

The police detained a 24-year-old man

– According to the report, the perpetrator was a young man aged around 20-30. As a result of the actions taken by criminals from the Police Station in Iłowa, a suspicious person and his place of residence were identified. Immediately afterwards, the police detained a 24-year-old resident of Częstochowa, Szlachetko reports.

It turned out that the 24-year-old was wanted by the court in Częstochowa – he was sentenced to one year and two months in prison.

On Wednesday morning, the District Court in Żagań, at the request of the prosecutor, imposed temporary arrest on the man. He now faces up to 15 years in prison for robbing a taxi driver.
