IMGW issued a forecast of meteorological hazards. As forecasters predict, in the coming days the threat will be oppressive heat, before which alerts will cover most of the country. Thunderstorms are also expected to return from Sunday.

According to the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, thermometer readings in many regions of the country will soar above 30 degrees Celsius over the weekend. Spokesman IMGW Grzegorz Walijewski specified that you can expect not only extremely high temperatures during the day, but also tropical nights with temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius.

According to forecasts, the extreme hot zone will move. In the western half of Poland it will be the hottest on Saturday, and in the eastern half on Sunday. Heat warnings are expected to remain in place in some regions until early next week.

Although on Friday we will rest from dangerous weather phenomena, it will get hot in Poland on Saturday. Second degree heat alerts may apply in the following provinces: Lubuskie, Greater Poland, Lower Silesia, Opole, Silesian, Lodz, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, mazowieckie, Świętokrzyskie, Lesser Poland (outside the poviats: Tatrzański and Nowy Targ), Subcarpathian, Lublin (in the north of the region) and warmińsko-mazurskie (everywhere except the east of the province).

In addition, first degree heat warnings are forecast in the following provinces: warmińsko-mazurskie (in the poviats: Węgorzewo, Giżycki and Pisz), Podlaskie (in the southwest of the region) and Lesser Poland (in Nowy Targ County).

IMGW alert forecast for Sunday

It will also be hot on Sunday in much of the country. Orange heat warnings may apply in the following provinces: Lubuskie, Greater Poland, Lower Silesia, Opole, Silesian, Lodz, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, mazowieckie, Świętokrzyskie, Lesser Poland, Subcarpathian, Lublin, warmińsko-mazurskie (outside the counties: Gołdap, Olecki and Ełk) i Podlaskie (in the southwest of the region).

First degree heat alerts may additionally apply in the province warmińsko-mazurskie (in the counties: Gołdap, Olecki and Ełk) i Podlaskie (in the entire region outside the higher alert area).

They will also be back on Sunday storms with hail. IMGW may issue a first-level alert against them in the following provinces: mazowieckie, Lodz, Silesian, Opole and Lower Silesia.

The heat will accompany us at least until Monday. Second degree heat alerts may be issued in the following provinces: Lubuskie, Greater Poland, Lower Silesia, Opole, Silesian, Lodz, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, mazowieckie, Świętokrzyskie, Lesser Poland, Subcarpathian and Lublin.

On the same day, yellow heat warnings may apply in the province warmińsko-mazurskie and Podlaskie.

It can also freeze in parts of the country. IMGW plans to issue first-level alerts against thunderstorms with hail in the following provinces: Lublin, mazowieckie, Świętokrzyskie, Lodz, Subcarpathian, Lesser Poland, Silesian, Opole and Lower Silesia.
