We have a difficult time ahead of us in the weather. IMGW has issued second degree alerts against freezing precipitation, causing black ice. There will be a “glass” on the roads, it will be slippery and dangerous. Level 1 warnings for icing and heavy fog are also in effect. The threat forecast shows that it will snow heavily over the weekend, and blowing snow is also possible.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued a first degree meteorological warning. There is also a threat forecast for the next few days.

IMGW alerts of the second degree – freezing precipitation

Synoptics IMGW issued second degree warnings against freezing precipitation in the following provinces:

Silesian (in the counties: Żywiec, Cieszyn, Bielski, Bielsko-Biala);

Lesser Poland (in the following poviats: Tatrzański, Nowy Targ, Sucha, Limanowski, Myślenice, Nowy Sącz).

Weak, sometimes moderate freezing rain is forecast, in the second half of the night turning into freezing drizzle, causing black ice.

Alerts will be valid from 14.30 on Friday until 12.30 p.m. 7 on Saturday.

IMGW alerts of the first degree – icing

IMGW yellow alerts against icing have been issued in the following provinces:

Podlaskie (except poviats located in the south of the region);

mazowieckie (in northern counties);

Kuyavian-Pomeranian (excluding poviats located in the south of the voivodship);

Greater Poland (in northern counties);

Lubuskie (in poviats located in the north of the region).

Wet surfaces of roads and pavements are forecast to freeze after sleet and wet snow, causing them to become icy. The minimum temperature will be from -6 to -2 degrees Celsius, locally -8 degrees Celsius. Thermometers at the ground can show from -8 to -3 degrees Celsius, locally -10 degrees Celsius. According to forecasters, the negative air temperature will remain in places also during the day.

The alarms will be in effect until 9 or 10 on Friday.

IMGW alerts of the first degree – dense fog

There will also be dense fog in places. Warnings against them have been issued in the following provinces:

Pomeranian (except eastern poviats);

Lubuskie (in northern counties).

Dense fog is forecast, within which visibility may be from 100 to 200 meters.

Alerts will be in effect until 9 on Friday.

There is a chance of heavy snowfall in the south of the country on Saturday. IMGW plans to issue orange alerts against this winter threat in the following provinces: Subcarpathian (in the districts of: Ropczyce-Sędziszów, Dębicki, Mielec, Kolbuszów, Stalowowolski, Tarnobrzeg, Tarnobrzeg), Lesser Poland, Silesian (in the counties: Żywiec, Bielsko, Cieszyn, Bielsko-Biała), Świętokrzyskie (in all poviats except for Włoszczowa and Końskie).

First degree warnings against heavy snowfall may appear in the following provinces: Lower Silesia (in the southeast), Silesian (wherever level 2 alerts do not apply), Świętokrzyskie (in the poviats of Włoszczowa and Końskie).

IMGW also plans to issue yellow alerts against icing in the following provinces: Podlaskie, warmińsko-mazurskie and Lodz (in the southeast of the region).

Freezing rain may also occur on this day. Black ice warnings may appear in the province Subcarpathianexcept for counties located in the north.

It may snow heavily on Sunday. Level 1 heavy snow warnings may be in effect in the following provinces: Podlaskie, warmińsko-mazurskie, mazowieckie, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Lodz, Greater Poland, Lubuskie, Opole, Lower Silesia.

Blizzards and blizzards may also occur. Alerts against them may appear in the following provinces: Greater Poland, Lower Silesia (in southern poviats), Silesian (excluding southern poviats), Lesser Poland (in the north of the region), Subcarpathian (in northern poviats), Lodz, Świętokrzyskie.

Freezing rain is forecast in the southeast. Weather forecasters plan to issue frost warnings in the following provinces: Lublin (outside the western poviats) i Subcarpathian (except north-western poviats).

The beginning of the new week will also bring weather threats. Yellow alerts for heavy snowfall may apply in the following provinces: Lower Silesia, West Pomeranian, Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, warmińsko-mazurskie, Podlaskie (in the West), Greater Poland (in northern counties).

There will be frost in the south. Warnings against them may appear in poviats located in the south of the province Lesser Poland and Silesian.

What is the second degree IMGW meteorological warning

The second degree warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing large material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence strongly limit the conduct of business. Expect disruptions in daily functioning. Great caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and the development of the weather situation. Follow all instructions issued by the emergency services in an emergency. Adapt your plans to weather conditions.
