IMGW alerts – heavy rainfall, frost. Where warnings apply

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued warnings against heavy rainfall for parts of Lower Silesia and the Opole region. IMGW also alerts against frost in the southern districts of the Małopolskie and Podkarpackie voivodships.

Forecasters of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued weather warnings.

IMGW alerts – heavy rainfall

First degree warnings against heavy rainfall have been issued for the following provinces:

Lower Silesiafor counties: Zgorzelec, Lubań, Lwówek, Złotoryja, Karkonosze, Jelenia GoraKamienna Góra, Jawor, Świdnica, Wałbrzych, WałbrzychDzierżoniów, Kłodzko, Ząbkowice;

Opolefor the districts of: Nysa, Prudnica, Glubczyce.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast. Precipitation is expected to be between 40 and 50 liters of water per square meter.

The warnings will be in effect from 9am on Thursday until 8pm. 21 on Friday.

IMGW alerts – frost

Frosts are possible in parts of the country. First degree warnings were issued for the following provinces:

Subcarpathianfor the poviats: Sanok, Lesko and Bieszczady;

Lesser Polandfor counties: Nowy Targ and Tatrzański.

In Małopolska, the air temperature is forecast to drop to about -2 degrees Celsius, at the ground to -3 degrees C. In Podkarpacie, thermometers will show a minimum of about -1 degrees C, at the ground to -3 degrees C.

Alerts will be in force on Thursday from midnight to 6 am in Małopolska and from 2-6 on Thursday in Podkarpacie.

What is the first degree IMGW meteorological warning

The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life. Running a business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from activities in the area where the threat occurs, including delays caused by traffic obstructions, disruptions in the course of outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution recommended, the need to follow messages and weather developments.
