IMGW has issued first degree alerts against heavy snowfall. It can fall up to 20 centimeters in some places. In the coming days, the winter weather will not let up, which results from the forecast of threats.
Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first degree meteorological warnings. There is also a threat forecast for the next few days.
IMGW alerts of the first degree – heavy snowfall
Alarms IMGW against heavy snowfalls were issued for the following voivodships:
– Pomeranianin northern and central poviats;
– West Pomeranianin the counties: Sławno, Koszalin, Koszalin.
Snowfall is forecast, causing an increase in snow cover up to 10-15 centimeters in places, about 20 cm is possible in places.
The warnings will remain in effect until 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Threat Forecast for Friday
On Friday, it can snow heavily in the south of Poland. Heavy snowfall alerts may be issued for provinces Lesser Poland (southern counties) and Silesian (poviats located in the south of the region).
There may also be freezing rain. Warnings against them may appear in the following provinces: Lublin (except northern poviats), Subcarpathian (in the north of the region), Świętokrzyskie (in the south of the region), Lesser Poland (in northern and central poviats).
Threat Forecast for Saturday
On Saturday, freezing rain may be released in the province Subcarpathian.
Threat Forecast for Sunday
On Sunday, winter weather can be felt in many parts of the country. IMGW plans to issue warnings against heavy snowfall in the province: Pomeranian, Warmian-Masurian, Podlaskie, Mazowieckie, Wielkopolskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Lubuskie, Opole, Silesian, Lesser Poland, Świętokrzyskie, Łódź.
In addition, there may also be blowing/blizzards. Alerts against them may appear in the following provinces: Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Podlaskie, Mazowieckie, Świętokrzyskie, Łódzkie, Śląskie, Wielkopolskie, Kuyavian-Pomeranian.
Another threat that may appear on this day is freezing rain. Warnings against them may appear in the following provinces: Lublin, Podkarpackie, Lesser Poland, Świętokrzyskie, Mazowieckie.
What is the first degree IMGW meteorological warning
The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life.
