IMGW alerts. Icing, strong wind. Where warnings apply

IMGW warns against icing on roads and pavements in the south, east and partly in the center of Poland. Strong wind alerts are in effect along the coast.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued first degree meteorological warnings.

IMGW alerts – strong wind

First degree warnings against strong winds are in force in the following provinces:

West Pomeranianin poviats: ŚwinoujścieKamień, Gryfice, Kołobrzeg, Koszalin, KoszalinSławno;

Pomeranianin the counties: Słupsk, SlupskLębork, Wejherowo, Puck, GdyniaSopot, Gdańsk, Nowy Dwór;

Strong winds with an average speed of 45 to 55 kilometers per hour, gusts up to 85 km/h, from the west and north-west are forecast.

In Western Pomerania, the warnings will be valid until 2 p.m. 9 on Sunday, while in Pomerania they will expire at 15 on the same day.

Forecasters also warn of icing. First level alerts are in force in the following provinces:

Lesser Polandoutside the Tatra poviat;

mazowieckiein the southern part of the voivodeship;

Podlaskiein the counties: Bialystok, BialystokWysokie Mazowieckie, Bielsko, Hajnów, Siemiatycze;

It is expected that the wet surface of roads and sidewalks will freeze after sleet and wet snow, causing them to become icy. The minimum air temperature will reach about -3/-7 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature at the ground will reach about -5/-9 degrees Celsius.

The warnings will remain in effect until 8 on Sunday.

What is the first degree IMGW meteorological warning

The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life. Running a business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from activities in the area where the threat occurs, including delays caused by traffic obstructions, disruptions in the course of outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution recommended, the need to follow messages and weather developments.
