IMGW warns against icing and thawing. Residents of north-eastern Poland should be especially careful – roads and sidewalks can be slippery at night. Flood alerts are still in effect in the southern regions. Check where the aura can be dangerous.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first degree meteorological warnings.

IMGW alerts of the first degree – icing

Alerts IMGW of the first degree against icing have been issued for the following voivodships:

warmińsko-mazurskieoutside the western poviats;

Podlaskieoutside the southern counties.

In these regions, wet roads and sidewalks are expected to freeze after rain, sleet and wet snow, resulting in icing. The minimum temperature is about -2 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature at the ground is about -4 degrees Celsius.

Warnings will be valid from 1-8 on Wednesday, only in the north of the province. Podlaskie and the east of the province warmińsko-mazurskie, they will enter into force on Tuesday at 21 and will be in force until Wednesday at 9.

IMGW weather forecasters also issued yellow alerts before thaws for the following provinces:

Silesianfor the counties: Cieszyn, Bielsko, Żywiec;

Lesser Polandfor the counties: Wadowice, Sucha, Nowy Targ, Tatrzański, Limanowski, Nowy Sącz;

Subcarpathianfor the districts of: Jasło, Krosno, Sanok, Lesko, Bieszczady.

An increase in air temperature is forecast, causing thaw and melting of the snow cover. The temperature will reach 4-8 degrees Celsius. The sum of rainfall will be 5-10 liters of water per square meter, and the wind will blow at an average speed of 20-30 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 65 km/h.

The alerts will remain in effect until 11 am on Wednesday.

What is the first degree IMGW meteorological warning

The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life. Running a business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from activities in the area where the threat occurs, including delays caused by traffic obstructions, disruptions in the course of outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution recommended, the need to follow messages and weather developments.
