IMGW warns of heavy snowfall. On Monday morning, it will rain the hardest in Warmia and Mazury, as well as in parts of Podlasie and Pomerania. Forecasters predict that up to 25 centimeters of snow will fall in the next few hours. Alerts have also been issued against strong winds and blowing snow and blizzards.
According to the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, around 3 am, the main snowfall zone was over Mazovia. It is moving north, but it also rains in other parts of the country. Synoptics IMGW issued second and first degree weather warnings.
IMGW alerts of the second degree – heavy snowfall
IMGW’s orange alerts against heavy snowfall are in force in the western part of the voivodeship warmińsko-mazurskie.
Snowfall of moderate intensity is forecast, with heavy periods causing in some places an increase in snow cover by 15 cm to 25 cm.
The warnings will remain in effect until 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
IMGW alerts of the second degree – blowing/blizzards
For the northern poviats of the warmińsko-mazurskie and Pomeranian Level 2 warnings for snowstorms and blizzards have been issued.
Blows and blizzards caused by snowfall and winds with an average speed of 40 to 55 km/h, gusts up to 85 km/h, from the north and northwest are forecast.
The warnings will be in effect from 10 a.m. on Monday to 8 on Tuesday.
IMGW alerts of the first degree – strong wind
In the north of the province Warmińsko-Mazurskie and Pomorskie are also subject to first degree warnings against strong winds.
A strong wind with an average speed of 40 to 55 km/h, gusts up to 85 km/h, from the north and north-west is forecast.
The warnings will be valid until 10 a.m. on Monday to 8 on Tuesday.

In the southern counties of the Lower Silesia Level 1 warnings are in effect for heavy snowfall.
Rainfall is forecast there, causing an increase in snow cover by 10 to 15 cm.
The warnings will be in effect until midnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

The second degree warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing large material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence strongly limit the conduct of business. Expect disruptions in daily functioning.
