IMGW has issued weather warnings. In parts of the country, yellow alerts are in place before downpours – in places up to 50 liters of rain per square meter may fall. The phenomena may also be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail.

Forecasters of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued first level alerts.

IMGW alerts of the first degree – heavy rain with thunderstorms

IMGW yellow alerts against heavy rain from storms are forecast in the following voivodeships:

Lesser Polandin the poviats: Gorlicki, Nowy Sacz and Nowy Sącz;

Subcarpathian, in the entire province, except for the north-eastern counties.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast. Precipitation rate in places from 40 to 50 liters per square meter. Rainfall will be accompanied by storms with wind gusts up to 60 kilometers per hour. The hail may fall.

The warnings will be in effect until 1pm on Saturday.

What is a Level 1 weather warning?

The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life. Running a business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from activities in the area where the threat occurs, including delays caused by traffic obstructions, disruptions in the course of outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution recommended, the need to follow messages and weather developments.
