IMGW warns on Sunday against dangerous phenomena in the south of Poland. In the southern poviats of the Śląskie, Małopolskie and Podkarpackie voivodeships, strong wind alerts are in force. For parts of the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship, however, warnings were issued in connection with the existing and forecasted heavy rainfall.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first degree meteorological warnings.

IMGW yellow alerts of the first degree against strong wind are in force in the following voivodships:

Silesianin the counties: Cieszyn, Bielski, Bielsko-BialaŻywiec;

Lesser Polandin the following poviats: Sucha, Nowy Targ, Tatrzański, Nowy Sącz, Nowy SaczGorlice;

Subcarpathianin the following districts: Jasło, Krosno, loomSanok, Lesko, Bieszczady.

Strong winds with an average speed of 30 to 40 km/h, gusts up to 85 km/h, from the south and south-west are forecast.

Warnings in Silesia will be valid until 6 p.m. on Sunday, and in Małopolska and Podkarpacie until 6 p.m. 20 on the same day.

IMGW alerts – heavy rainfall

Rain is also forecast for Saturday. First degree alerts against heavy rainfall have been issued for the province of Lower Silesiafor counties: Lubań, Lwówek, Karkonosze, Jelenia GoraKamienna Góra, Wałbrzych, Wałbrzych and Kłodzko.

The forecast amount of precipitation, including those that have already occurred overnight, will be from 30 to 40 liters of water per square meter, the release said.

The warnings will expire at 19 on Sunday.

IMGW threat forecast for Tuesday

For Monday, the weather forecasters do not predict any weather threats. However, on Tuesday, the dangerous conditions will return. IMGW intends to issue first degree alerts against heavy snowfall for voivodeships Lesser Poland, Silesian and southern districts of the province Opole.

Heavy rainfall is also possible. First level warnings may be issued for the province Subcarpathian.

On Wednesday, heavy snowfall will cover a larger area. It can get dangerous in the western and central districts of the province. warmińsko-mazurskienorthern and north-western poviats of the province mazowieckieeastern counties of the province Opole and on Kuyavia, of the Lodz region and Silesia.

What is the first degree IMGW meteorological warning

The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life.
