IMGW has issued first degree alerts against strong winds. In the north of the country it will blow with gusts up to 75 kilometers per hour. There may be ice and heavy snow warnings in the coming days.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first degree meteorological warnings.

IMGW alerts – strong wind

Yellow alerts IMGW against strong wind were issued for the following provinces:

On the coast, the average wind speed is forecast up to 40 km/h, with gusts up to 75 km/h, from the south-west. In the region of Western Pomerania, the warnings will be valid from 20:00 on Sunday to 12:00. Monday 1, while in Pomerania they will apply from an hour. Sunday 20.00 to 20.00 6 the next day.

Storm in the Baltic Sea

The Provincial Crisis Management Center warns against a storm in the Baltic Sea based on alerts issued by the IMGW-PiB in Gdynia. The third, highest degree of severe storm warning applies to the central part of the coastal zone. A southwesterly wind of 6-8 is forecast, with gusts up to 9-10 on the Beaufort scale. The warning will be in effect until 5 on Monday. A second-level storm warning has been issued for the western part of the coastal zone. There, the south-west wind will blow with force 6-7 on the Beaufort scale, but gusts can reach 9. The warning will also end at 12:00 p.m. 5 on Monday.

For Tuesday and Wednesday, forecasters do not forecast any weather threats. However, the dangerous conditions will return on Thursday. IMGW forecasters intend to issue first degree alerts against heavy snowfall in the following provinces on this day: mazowieckie, Lublin, Świętokrzyskie, Silesian and Lesser Poland.

What is the first degree IMGW meteorological warning

The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life.
