Strong winds are forecast for Poland on Sunday. It will be the strongest in the mountains. IMGW issued warnings against dangerously strong gusts in the south of the country and the coast.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first degree meteorological warnings.

IMGW alerts – strong wind

IMGW yellow alerts of the first degree against strong wind are in force in the following voivodships:

West Pomeranianin poviats: ŚwinoujścieKamień, Gryfice, Kołobrzeg, Koszalin, Koszalin and Sławno, where they will be valid until 7 on Sunday;

Pomeranianin the districts of Słupsk, Słupsk, Lębork, Wejherowo and Puck, where they will be valid until 9 am on Sunday;

Lower Silesiain the counties of: Zgorzelec, Bolesławiec, Lubański, Lwówek, Karkonosze, Jelenia Gora, Złotoryja, Legnica, Legnica, Jawor, Świdnica, Wałbrzych, Wałbrzych, Dzierżoniów, Strzelin, Ząbkowice and Kłodzko, where they will be valid until 8 am on Sunday;

Opole, in the counties: Nysa, Prudnica, Krapkowice, Kędzierzyn-Koźle and Glubczyce, where they will be valid until 9 am on Sunday;

Silesianin the counties: Racibórz, Rybnik, Rybnik, Wodzisław, Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Cieszyn, Żywiec, Bielsko and Bielsko-Biała, where they will be valid until 9 am on Sunday;

Lesser Polandin the following poviats: Sucha, Nowy Targ, Tatrzański, Nowy Sącz, Nowy Sacz and Gorlice, where they will be valid until 20 on Sunday;

Subcarpathian, in the districts of: Jasielski, Krosno, Krosno, Sanok, Leski and Bieszczady, where they will be valid until 20 on Sunday.

A strong wind with an average speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour is forecast, with gusts up to 75 km/h on the coast, and up to 85 km/h in the south of the country, from the south and south-west.

IMGW threat forecast for Tuesday

For Monday, the weather forecasters do not predict any weather threats. However, on Tuesday, the dangerous conditions will return. IMGW intends to issue first degree alerts against heavy snowfall for voivodeships Lesser Poland, Silesian and southern districts of the province Opole.

Heavy rainfall is also possible. First level warnings may be issued for the province Subcarpathian.
