IMGW has issued weather warnings. Residents of the western part of the country should prepare for dangerously high temperatures – five provinces have heat warnings in place. Level 1 alerts have also been issued for thunderstorms with hail.

Forecasters of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued weather warnings.

IMGW alerts – heat

First degree heat warnings are in force in the following provinces:

West Pomeranianin the southern half of the region;

Pomeranianin the counties of: Tczew, Starogard, Kościerzyna, Chojnicki and Człuchów;

Kuyavian-Pomeranianin the western part of the region;

Greater Polandin the entire voivodeship, except for the poviats: Konin, KoninKalisz, KaliszOstrów, Ostrzeszów, Kępiński, Turek and Koło;

Heat is forecast in these regions. Locally, the maximum temperature during the day will be up to 30 degrees Celsius. At night, thermometers will show a minimum of 13 degrees C to 16 degrees C.

Alerts will go into effect Thursday at 12 noon. They will expire Friday at 12 noon. 20.

There will also be places where thunderstorms with hail may occur. First degree alerts against them were issued in the following provinces:

Silesianin the counties: Bielski, Bielsko-BialaCieszyn and Żywiec;

Lesser Polandin the entire region, except for Olkuski and Miechów poviats;

Świętokrzyskiein the counties: Kazimierz, Busko, Staszów and Sandomierz;

Lublinin the counties: Janów, Biłgoraj, Zamość, ZamośćTomaszów and Hrubieszów.

Thunderstorms are forecast, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall from 20-35 liters of water per square meter and wind gusts up to 65 kilometers per hour. Hail may fall locally.

The warnings will be valid from 10am to 9pm on Thursday.

What is the first degree IMGW meteorological warning

The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life. Running a business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the area where the threat occurs, including delays caused by traffic obstructions, disruptions in the course of outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution recommended, the need to follow messages and weather developments.
