IMGW has issued weather warnings. On Saturday, dangerous thunderstorms with hail are possible again in parts of the country, along with heavy rain and gusty winds. Level 2 alerts are in effect in the south of the country.

Forecasters of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued weather warnings.

IMGW alerts of the second degree – thunderstorms with hail

Level 2 weather warning ahead storms with hail were issued in the following provinces:

Subcarpathianin the counties: Bieszczady, Lesko, Sanok, Krosno, loom and Jasło;

Lesser Polandin the districts of: Gorlice, Nowy Sącz, Nowy SaczLimanowski, Nowy Targ, Tatrzański and Suski;

Silesianin the counties: Żywiec, Bielski, Bielsko-Biala and Cieszyn.

Thunderstorms are forecast in these regions, accompanied in places by very heavy rainfall from 40 to 50 liters of rain per square meter and wind gusts up to 60 kilometers per hour. It may hail in places.

The warning will be in effect from 10am to 8pm on Saturday.

IMGW alerts of the first degree – thunderstorms with hail

In some parts of the country, there are additional first-level alerts against thunderstorms with hail. They have been announced for the following provinces:

Subcarpathianfor the entire region, except for poviats where higher-level alerts are in force;

Podlaskiefor the poviats: Wysokie Mazowieckie, Siemiatycki, Bielsko and Hajnowski;

mazowieckiefor poviats in the south and east of the region;

of Lodzfor southern and eastern poviats;

Lesser Polandfor the entire region, except for poviats where higher-level alerts are in force;

Silesianfor all counties other than those covered by level 2 warnings;

Lower Silesia, for counties in the east of the region;

Greater Polandfor the districts: Ostrzeszów and Kępiński.

Thunderstorms are forecast in these regions, accompanied by heavy rainfall of 20 to 30 l/sq m. and wind gusts up to 60 km/h. Hail may also occur locally.

Alerts will be in effect on Saturday from 10am to 8pm.

What is a second degree weather warning

The second degree warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing large material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence strongly limit the conduct of business. Expect disruptions in daily functioning. Great caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and the development of the weather situation. Follow all instructions issued by the emergency services in an emergency. Adapt your plans to weather conditions.

The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life. Running a business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the area where the threat occurs, including delays caused by traffic obstructions, disruptions in the course of outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation.
