IMGW warns of thunderstorms with hail, during which up to 25 liters of water per square meter may fall. Strong wind warnings are also in effect in parts of the country. According to the threat forecast issued by forecasters, there will be thunder and heavy rain in the coming days, even second-level alarms may appear.
Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued meteorological warnings and a threat forecast.
IMGW meteorological alerts – thunderstorms with hail
First degree hail storm alerts are in effect in the following provinces:
– Pomeranianin the counties: Bytów, Słupsk, SlupskKościerzyna, Kartuzy, Lębork, Gdańsk, Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia, Puck, Malbork, Nowy Dwór, Wejherowo;
– warmińsko-mazurskiein the counties: Elbląg, Elbląg, Braniewo, Lidzbark, Bartoszycki.
Thunderstorms are forecast, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall with a total of 20-25 liters of water per square meter. The wind will gust up to 70 kilometers per hour. Hail will appear locally.
The warnings will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday.
IMGW meteorological alerts – strong wind
Yellow alerts against strong winds have been issued in the province Lower Silesiain the counties: Lwówek, Karkonosze, Jelenia GoraKamienna Góra, Wałbrzych and Kłodzko.
Strong winds with an average speed of up to 45 km/h, gusts up to 75 km/h, from the south-west and south are forecast in some places. The warnings will be valid until 15 on Thursday.
IMGW threat forecast for Friday
On Friday it will rain heavily and there will be thunderstorms. IMGW plans to issue second-level storm warnings for the province Subcarpathian. However, in the provinces Świętokrzyskie, Lesser Poland and Silesian IMGW alerts of the first degree will probably apply due to storms.
Throughout the province of Opoleas well as in the province Lower Silesia (Kłodzko and Ząbkowice poviats), first degree warnings against heavy rainfall are possible.
There may also be a first degree alert for heavy rain with thunderstorms in the province Lublin (in southern and central counties).
IMGW threat forecast for Saturday
The weather on Saturday will break down over a much larger area of the country. Forecasters plan to issue second-level storm alerts for the following provinces: Subcarpathian, Świętokrzyskie and Lesser Poland. Lower level warnings may apply in the province of Lublin.
Heavy rain with thunderstorms may occur throughout the following provinces: warmińsko-mazurskie, Podlaskie, mazowieckie and Silesian. Level 1 alerts will probably be in effect there.
Heavy rainfall and related first degree warnings are expected across the province. Opolskie and in the province Lower Silesia (Kłodzko and Ząbkowice counties).
IMGW threat forecast for Sunday
On the second day of the weekend, heavy rain with thunderstorms is forecast in the provinces warmińsko-mazurskie and Podlaskie. Level 1 warnings may apply.

The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life.
