IMGW warns of storms. Saturday will bring heavy rain and strong gusts of wind in places, which will last until the night. In a large part of the country, the sweltering heat will also pose a threat.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued first and second degree meteorological warnings on a three-point, ascending scale.

IMWM warnings of the second degree – storms

Orange storm alerts apply to the following provinces:

  • Lower Silesianin the following counties: Kłodzko, Ząbkowice, Strzelin, Oława, Wrocław, WroclawOleśnica, Świdnica, Wałbrzych, WalbrzychKamienna Góra, Karkonosze, Jelenia Gora;
  • Greater Polandin the counties: Ostrzeszów, Kępno;
  • Opole;
  • Silesian;
  • Lodzin the counties of Sieradz, Zduńska Wola, Łask, Pabianice, ŁódźŁódź East, Tomaszów, Opoczno, Piotrków, Piotrkow TrybunalskiBełchatów, Radomsko, Pajęczno, Wieluń, Wieruszów;
  • Masovianin the following counties: Przysucha, Szydłowiec, Radom, RadomZvolen, Lipsko;
  • Świętokrzyskie;
  • Lesser Poland;
  • Subcarpathianin the counties of Jasło, Krosno, LoomSanok, Lesko, Bieszczady, Brzozów, Strzyżów, Rzeszów, RzeszowRopczyce-Sędziszów, Dębica, Mielec, Kolbuszowa, Tarnobrzeg, Tarnobrzeg.

There are forecasted storms, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall from 20 to even 50 liters per square meter and wind gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour. Locally, hail will fall, and the accumulation of rainfall may be higher in places.

The alerts will come into effect on Saturday at 11 a.m. and expire at midnight. In southern Poland, they will be a continuation of a lower-level warning that will remain in effect throughout the morning. The level of the warning may be raised.

IMWM first degree warnings – storms

First-degree storm warnings apply to the following provinces:

  • Subcarpathianoutside the counties covered by higher level alerts;
  • Lublinpoviats: Tomaszów, Zamość, Zamość, Biłgoraj, Krasnystaw, Świdnica, Lublin, Lublin, Ryki, Puławy, Opole, Kraśnik, Janów;
  • Masoviansouthern and south-western counties;
  • Lodzoutside the counties covered by higher level alerts;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeshippoviats: Lipno, Aleksandrów, Inowrocław, Żnin, Mogilno, Radziejów, Włocławek, Włocławek;
  • Greater Polandsouthern and eastern counties;
  • Lower Silesiaoutside the counties covered by higher level alarms and the Głogów county;
  • West Pomeranianin the central districts strip;

In places, thunderstorms are forecast there, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall from 20 to 35 liters per square meter and wind gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour. Locally, hail will appear.

The alerts will come into effect on Saturday at 11 a.m. In the north of the country they will expire at 7 p.m., and in other regions – at 9 p.m., but the warning level may be raised there.

Additionally, until 11 a.m. in the southern counties of the province. Lower Silesia, Opole and Silesian a yellow alert is in effect, which will be replaced by a higher level warning.

IMGW warns of heat. Orange warnings apply in the following provinces:

  • lubuskieoutside the counties of Strzelce-Drezdenko and Gorzów, Gorzow Wielkopolski;
  • Lower Silesianoutside the following poviats: Zgorzelec, Lubań, Lwówek, Karkonosze, Jelenia Góra, Kamienna Góra, Wałbrzych, Kłodzko;
  • Opole;
  • Świętokrzyskie;
  • Silesianoutside the Żywiec district;
  • Podlasieoutside the Suwałki, Suwałki and Sejny counties;
  • Lesser Polandoutside the following counties: Tatra, Nowy Targ, Nowy Sącz, Nowy SączGorlice;
  • Subcarpathianoutside the following poviats: Jasło, Krosno, Krosno, Sanok, Lesko, Bieszczady;
  • Lublin;
  • Masovian;
  • Lodz;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian;

The maximum temperature during the day will be from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature at night from 16 degrees C to 20 degrees C.

In the following provinces: Lublin, Podkarpackie, Podlaskie and Mazowieckie the alarms will expire at 8 pm on Sunday, and in other places they will expire at 8 pm on Saturday.

First degree IMWM warnings – heat

First-degree heat warnings apply in the following provinces:

  • Warmia-Masuriain the following counties: Ostróda, Iława, Nowe Miasto, Działdowo, Nidzica, Olsztyn, Szczytno, Mrągowo, Pisz, Ełk, Giżycko, Olecko;
  • Podlasiein the counties of: Suwałki, Suwałki, Sejny;
  • Lesser Polandin the following counties: Nowy Targ, Nowy Sącz, Gorlice;
  • Subcarpathianin the following counties: Jasło, Krosno, Krosno, Sanok, Lesko, Bieszczady.

In these places, thermometers will show a maximum of 29 to 31 degrees Celsius during the day, while at night it will be from 16 to 17 degrees Celsius. The warnings will be valid until 7 p.m. on Saturday.

What is the second degree IMWM meteorological warning?

A second-degree warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing significant material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence significantly limit the conduct of business. Expect disruptions in everyday functioning. Great caution is recommended, the need to track messages and the development of the weather situation. Follow all recommendations issued by the rescue services in the event of a threat. Adjust your plans to the weather conditions.

What is the first-degree IMWM meteorological warning?

First-degree warning predicts conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and threaten health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous.
