Monday in parts of the country is expected to be stormy. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued warnings in three provinces. The most dangerous phenomena are expected in Małopolska and Podkarpacie.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first and second degree warnings on a three-point, ascending scale.

IMWM warnings of the second degree – storms

Second degree warnings were issued for the following provinces:

  • Lesser Polandfor the following counties: Sucha, Myślenice, Nowy Targ, Tatra, Limanowa, Nowy Sącz, Nowy SączGorlice;
  • Subcarpathianfor the following counties: Jasło, Krosno, loomSanok, Lesko, Bieszczady.

The forecasts are stormswhich in places will be accompanied by very heavy rainfall from 30 to 40 liters of water per square meter, locally up to 55 l/sq. m, and wind gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour. Locally, hail will fall.

The warnings will come into effect at 12pm on Monday and will expire at 9pm the same day.

IMWM first degree warnings – storms

Yellow warnings due to storms apply to the following provinces:

  • Silesiancounties: Cieszyn, Bielsk, Bielsko-BialaŻywiec;
  • Lesser Polandcounties: Oświęcim, Wadowice, Chrzanów, Kraków, CracowWieliczka, Bochnia, Tarnów, Tarnow;
  • Subcarpathiancounties: Dębica, Ropczyce-Sędziszów, Strzyżów, Rzeszów, RzeszowŁańcut, Brzozów, Przeworsk, Przemyśl, IndustryJarosław, Lubaczów.

In these places, during storms, heavy rainfall of 20 to 35 l/m2 and wind gusts of up to 70 km/h are predicted in some places. Hail will appear locally.

The warnings will be valid from 12pm to 9pm on Monday.

First degree warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing large material losses and a threat to health and life.
