IMWM issued first degree frost alerts. At night and in the morning the temperature at the ground may drop to -7 degrees Celsius in places.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued level 1 warnings.

IMWM alerts – frosts

First degree warnings against frost apply in the following voivodeships:

  • Pomeranian;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (excluding southwestern counties);
  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship;
  • Podlasie;
  • Masovian Voivodeship;
  • Łódź (in the following counties: Łowicz, Skierniewice, Skierniewice, Rawski);
  • Lublin Province;
  • Świętokrzyskie (in the following counties: Starachowice, Ostrowiec, Opatów, Sandomierz)
  • Podkarpackie (in eastern and southern counties);
  • Lesser Poland (in the following counties: Tatra, Nowy Targ, Nowy Sącz, Nowy SączGorlice).

Until Monday, at night and in the morning, thermometers may show from about -2 to about -5 degrees Celsius, while at the ground it will be up to -7 degrees Celsius.

Warnings in Pomerania, Kujawy, the Łódź region, in the western counties of the province. Masovian Voivodeship, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Małopolska and Podkarpacie will be valid until 8 a.m. on Sunday, and in other regions they will expire at 8 on Monday.

What is the IMWM first degree meteorological warning?

The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
