IMWM forecasters warn about storms. These phenomena will be accompanied by strong gusts of wind and heavy rainfall. There may be hail locally. Strong wind alerts are also in force.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued first-degree warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.

First degree IMWM alerts – storms

Storm alerts are valid in the following voivodeships:

  • Silesian (in Żywiec County);
  • Lesser Poland (in the following counties: Tatra, Nowy Targ, Sucha, Myślenice, Limanowski, Nowy Sącz, Nowy Sącz, Gorlice);
  • Podkarpackie (in the following counties: Bieszczady, Przemyśl, Przemyśl, Lesko, Sanok, Brzozów, Krosno, Jasło).

Storms are expected in the above regions, accompanied by rainfall of up to 15 liters of water per square meter in places and wind gusts of up to 85 kilometers per hour. There may be hail locally.

The warnings will be valid until 11 p.m. on Sunday.

IMWM alerts of the first degree – strong wind

Strong wind alerts are also in force in parts of the country. First degree warnings were issued in the following voivodeships:

  • Pomeranian (in coastal counties);
  • West Pomeranian Voivodeship (in Sławno district).

In these regions, strong winds from the west are expected, blowing at an average speed of up to 40 km/h, with gusts of up to 75 km/h. The alerts will be valid until midnight.

What is the IMWM first degree meteorological warning?

The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
