IMWM issued first degree alerts for strong winds, which can gust up to 80 kilometers per hour. There are also warnings against heavy rain.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings against strong winds and heavy rainfall.

IMWM alerts – strong wind, heavy rain

Alerts IMWM first degree against strong winds are valid in the following voivodeships:

  • Podkarpackiein the following counties: Bieszczady, Lesko, Sanok, Krosno, Jasło;
  • Lesser Polandin the counties of: Gorlice, Nowy Sącz, Nowy Targ, Tatra, Sucha, Wadowice, Oświęcim;
  • Silesianin the following counties: Żywiec, Cieszyn, Bielsko, Bielsko-Biala;
  • Lower Silesiain the following counties: Kamienna Góra, Karkonosze, Jelenia GóraLwówek.

Strong winds are forecast there, with an average speed of 25-45 kilometers per hour, gusting to 70-80 km/h, from the south and southwest. Warnings in Lower Silesia will be valid from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, in other regions from 10 p.m. on Thursday until 9 on Friday.

Yellow alerts are also in force for heavy rainfall. It’s supposed to rain in the voivodeship Lower Silesia, in the Karkonosze district and in Jelenia Góra. The forecast amount of rainfall will be from 30 to 40 liters of water per square meter. The warnings will be in force until 6 on Friday.

What is the IMWM first degree meteorological warning?

The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
