IMWM alerts. Thick fog and snowmelt. Warnings in several voivodeships

IMWM issued meteorological warnings. In seven voivodeships, dense fog will pose a threat, limiting visibility at night and in the morning. There are also snowmelt alerts in force.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first and second degree warnings.

IMWM alerts – dense fog

In parts of the country, IMWM warns of dense fog. The lowest level warnings have been issued for the following voivodeships:

  • West Pomeranian Voivodeshipfor the following poviats: Szczecinek, Drawsko, Wałecki;
  • Greater Polandfor the following counties: Złotów and Piła;
  • Pomeranianoutside the following poviats: Słupsk, SłupskLębork, Wejherowo, Puck, Gdynia, Sopot;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeshipfor the following poviats: Nakło, Sępolno, Tuchola, Bydgoszcz, Bydgoszczsecular, Grudziądz, GrudziadzChełmno, Toruń, ToruńGolubsko-Dobrzyński, Wąbrzeźno, Brodnica, Rypiński;
  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipoutside the following counties: Kętrzyn, Węgorzewo, Giżycko, Olecko, Gołdap, Ełk;
  • Podlasieoutside the following poviats: Suwałki, SuwałkiSejny, Augustów;
  • Masovian Voivodeshipfor the north-eastern part of the voivodeship.

Visibility may be less than 200 meters in some places. The warnings will be valid until 9 a.m. on Sunday.

IMWM alerts – snowmelt

In the south of the country, due to the increase in temperature, a thaw and melting of the remaining snow cover are expected. Second level alerts apply in the following voivodeships:

  • Lower Silesiain the Karkonosze poviats and Jelenia Góra;
  • Lesser Polandin the Tatra district;
  • Podkarpackiein the Bieszczady and Lesko counties;
  • Silesianin the following counties: Żywiec, Cieszyn, Bielsko, Bielsko-Biala.

In Lower Silesia, the warnings will expire on Sunday at 18, in Silesia in Małopolska they will be valid until 6 p.m. on Monday, and in the Podkarpacie region they will remain in force until Tuesday, also until 18.

First degree warnings due to snowmelt are in force in the province. Lesser Poland, in the following counties: Nowy Targ, Sucha, Myślenice, Nowy Sącz, Limanowski. Alerts will be valid there until 18 on Monday…

What is the second degree IMWM meteorological warning?

The second level warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing significant material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence significantly limit business activity. Expect disruptions to your daily functioning. Great caution is recommended, it is necessary to monitor the weather forecasts and developments. Follow all recommendations issued by emergency services in the event of an emergency. Adjust your plans to weather conditions.

What is the IMWM first degree meteorological warning?

The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation.
