IMWM warns against thunderstorms with hail. Lightning may be accompanied by hail. Strong wind alerts are also in force. Check where the weather will be dangerous.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings.

IMWM alerts – storms

IMWM yellow alerts ahead of storms have been issued for the following voivodeships:

  • West Pomeranian Voivodeship;
  • Pomeranianfor the following counties: Słupsk, Słupsk, Bytów, Człuchów, Chojnicki;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeshipfor the following poviats: Tuchola, Sępoleński, Nakło, Żnin, Bydgoszcz, Bydgoszcz;
  • Greater Polandfor the northern half of the voivodeship;
  • Lubuskieoutside southern counties.

Storms are forecast there, accompanied by rainfall of 10 to 15 liters per square meter in some places and wind gusts of up to 85 kilometers per hour. Small hail is possible.

The warnings will be valid until 3 a.m. on Saturday.

IMWM alerts – strong wind

Strong wind warnings have been issued for parts of the country. Applies to voivodeships:

  • West Pomeranian VoivodeshipSławno County;
  • Pomeraniancounties: Słupsk, Lębork, Wejherowo, Puck.

On the coast, it is expected to blow at an average speed of up to 40 km/h, with gusts up to 75 km/h, from the west and south-west.

The alerts will go into effect at 23 on Friday and will expire at 7 on Saturday.

What is the IMWM first degree meteorological warning?

The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
