IMWM alerts: warning levels may be exceeded on rivers. Hydrological situation in Poland

IMWM warns against an increase in water levels in rivers in southern Poland due to forecasted intense rainfall. First degree hydrological alerts were issued.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management alerts against heavy rainfall in several provinces. Due to the expected increase in water levels in rivers, synoptics issued hydrological warnings.

First degree hydrological warnings were issued for the entire voivodeship Lesser Poland and almost entire voivodeships: Podkarpackie, Silesian and Świętokrzyskie.

The water level is expected to rise, locally to the high-water zone. In smaller rivers, increases can be violent. In places where particularly intense rainfall occurs, it is possible to exceed the warning states in points.

In Silesia, the alarms will expire at 3 p.m. on Friday, in Małopolska and in the Świętokrzyskie Region at 18 on Friday, and in Podkarpacie at 8 on Saturday.

Level 1 hydrological warning is moderate. The water levels (observed or forecasted) are in the zone below the warning levels, and a rapid increase in the water level is predicted.
