The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns against storms with hail. In some places, it may be dangerous until the morning hours on Friday. IMGW warnings due to high temperatures remain in force almost throughout the country.
Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first and second degree meteorological warnings on a three-point, ascending scale.
IMWM warnings of the second degree – storms
Second degree warnings ahead storms concern the following voivodeships:
- Greater Polandcentral, eastern and southern counties;
- Lodzoutside the following counties: Kutno, Łowicz, Skierniewice, Skierniewice, Brzeziny, Rawa and Tomaszów;
- Lower Silesiaoutside the following counties: Głogów, Polkowice, Bolesławiec, Zgorzelec, Lubań, Lwówek;
- Opole;
- Świętokrzyskiein the western part of the region;
- Silesian;
- Lesser Polandwith the exception of Dąbrowa County;
- Masovianin the south of the region;
- Subcarpathiancounties: Jasło, Krosno, LoomSanok, Lesko, Bieszczady.
Thunderstorms are forecast there, which in places will be accompanied by very heavy rainfall from 35 to 45 liters per square meter, locally up to 55 l/sq. m, and wind gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour, locally up to 90 km/h. In some places, hail will appear.
The warnings will be valid until 11pm on Thursday.
IMWM first degree warnings – storms
Much of the country has been placed under lower-level storm warnings. They have been issued for the following provinces:
- Pomeranianfor the southern half of the voivodeship;
- West Pomeranianexcept for a few coastal counties;
- Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship;
- Greater Polandfor the following counties: Złotów, Piła, Złotoryja, Chodzież, Wągrowiec, Oborniki, Czarnków-Trzcianka, Szamotuły, Międzychód, Nowy Tomyśl, Grodzisk, Wolsztyn;
- lubuskiefor the eastern and southern counties;
- Warmia-Masuria;
- Podlaskie;
- Lublin;
- Lower Silesiaexcluding counties covered by higher level warnings;
- Masovian (outside the counties where higher level alerts were issued);
- Lodz and Świętokrzyskie (excluding counties covered by higher level warnings);
- Lesser Polandfor Dąbrowa County;
- Subcarpathianfor counties where higher level warnings do not apply.
In these places, during storms, heavy rainfall from 20 to 35 l/m2 and wind gusts of up to 75 km/h are predicted. Locally, hail will fall.
The restrictions will expire in most of the country at 11 p.m. on Thursday. In Mazovia, Podkarpacie, Warmia and Masuria and in the east of the Świętokrzyskie Land it is expected to be dangerous from 11 p.m. on Thursday to 8 a.m. on Friday. In the Podlaskie and Lublin provinces the warnings will be valid from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday.
IMWM warnings of the second degree – heat
IMGW warns of heat. Orange warnings apply in the following provinces:
- lubuskieoutside the counties of Strzelce-Drezdenko and Gorzów, Gorzow Wielkopolski;
- Lower Silesianoutside the following counties: Zgorzelec, Lubań, Lwówek, Karkonosze, Jelenia GoraKamienna Góra, Wałbrzych, WalbrzychKłodzko;
- Opole;
- Silesianoutside the Żywiec district;
- Podlasie;
- Lesser Polandoutside the following counties: Tatra, Nowy Targ, Nowy Sącz, Nowy SączGorlice;
- Subcarpathianoutside the following poviats: Jasło, Krosno, Krosno, Sanok, Lesko, Bieszczady;
- Lublin;
- Masovian;
- Lodz;
- Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship;
- Greater Polandexcept for the following counties: Złotów, Piła, Czarnków-Trzcianka.
The maximum temperature during the day will be from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature at night from 16 degrees C to 20 degrees C.
In the Świętokrzyskie province the warnings will be valid until 8 p.m. Friday, in the Lublin, Podkarpackie, Podlaskie and Mazowieckie provinces they will expire at 8 p.m. on Sunday, and in other places they will expire at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
First degree IMWM warnings – heat
First-degree heat warnings apply in the following provinces:
- Greater Polandin the Czarnków-Trzcianka district;
- Pomeranianoutside the northern and western counties;
- Warmia-Masuriain the western half of the voivodeship;
- Masovianin the Mława and Ciechanów poviats;
- Silesianin Żywiec district;
- Lesser Polandexcluding counties covered by higher level warnings;
- Subcarpathianexcluding counties covered by higher level warnings.
In these places, thermometers will show a maximum of 29 to 30 degrees Celsius. In the Wielkopolskie, Pomorskie, Warmian-Masurian and Masovian provinces, the warnings will expire at 8 p.m. on Thursday, while in the remaining provinces they will remain in force until 8 p.m. on Friday.
What is the second degree IMWM meteorological warning?
A second-degree warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing significant material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence significantly limit the conduct of business. Expect disruptions in everyday functioning. Great caution is recommended, the need to track messages and the development of the weather situation. Follow all recommendations issued by the rescue services in the event of a threat. Adjust your plans to the weather conditions.
What is the first-degree IMWM meteorological warning?
First-degree warning predicts conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and threaten health and life.
