Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first- and second-degree meteorological warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.
Second degree IMWM warnings – freezing precipitation
Orange alerts for freezing precipitation have been issued for the province Podkarpackiecounties: Bieszczady, Lesko, Sanok, Krosno.
Light freezing drizzle and black ice are forecast in these regions. The warnings will be in force from 10 a.m. on Friday until 10 a.m. on Saturday.
IMWM first degree warnings – freezing precipitation
First level alerts against dangerous road conditions apply in the following voivodeships:
- Lesser Polandin the following counties: Dąbrowa, Tarnów, TarnówBrzesko, Gorlice, Nowy Sącz, Nowy Sącz;
- Podkarpackieexcept for counties covered by orange alerts;
- Lublin Provinceoutside the extreme northern counties;
- Świętokrzyskieexcept for the extreme western counties;
- Masovian Voivodeshipin southern counties.
Periods of light freezing drizzle, causing black ice, are forecast. The alarms will expire at 9 on Saturday.
First degree IMWM warnings – snowmelt
Yellow warnings for snowmelt are in force in the voivodeship Lower Silesiain the Karkonosze poviats and Jelenia Góra. An increase in air temperature is forecast, causing a thaw and melting of the snow cover in the peak parts of the Sudetes.
The warnings will be valid until 9 on Sunday.
IMWM warnings of the first degree – dense fog
First degree warnings of dense fog were issued in the following voivodeships:
- West Pomeranian Voivodeshipin western and southern counties;
- Lubuskie;
- Greater Polandin counties located in the western half of the region.
Locally dense fog is still observed and forecasted, and visibility may be below 200 meters in some places. The alarms will be valid until 12 on Saturday.
