In many regions of the country, IMWM first and second degree storm warnings are still valid. The lightning will be accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds. You should also watch out for hail.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first and second degree meteorological warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.

IMWM second degree warnings – storms

Second degree warnings ahead storms issued in voivodeships:

  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship;
  • Greater Polandin the following counties: Złotów, Piła, Chodzież and Wągrowiec;
  • Łódźoutside Wieruszów County;
  • Lower Silesiain western counties;
  • Silesian;
  • Lesser Polandexcluding eastern counties;
  • Świętokrzyskieoutside eastern counties;
  • Masovian Voivodeshipoutside the eastern poviats and Lipski and Zwoleń;
  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipin southwestern counties.

Storms are forecast, which will be accompanied by very heavy rainfall in places, ranging from 35 to 40 liters of water per square meter, locally up to 50 l/sq m, and wind gusts reaching up to 80 kilometers per hour. There may be hail locally.

The warnings will be valid until 22-23.

IMWM first degree warnings – storms

First level warnings apply in the following voivodeships:

  • Pomeranian, in the poviats of Malbork, Kwidzyn, Tczew, Starogard, Kościerzyna, Chojnice;
  • Podlasie;
  • Lubuskie, in counties bordering the province. Lower Silesia;
  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipin northern and eastern counties;
  • Masovian Voivodeshipin the eastern poviats as well as Leipzig and Zwoleń;
  • Lublin Province;
  • Świętokrzyskiein eastern counties;
  • Podkarpackie;
  • Lesser Polandin eastern counties;
  • Lower Silesiain counties located in the west of the region.

Thunderstorms are forecast, accompanied by heavy rainfall of 20-35 l/sq m in some places. and wind gusts reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h. There may be hail locally.

The warnings will expire at 23.

What is the IMWM first degree meteorological warning?

The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation.
