IMGW warns of storms that will sweep over parts of the country on the night from Wednesday to Thursday. The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy rainfall and gusty winds. There are also warnings about heat, which is expected on Thursday. Check where the weather will be dangerous.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first and second degree warnings on a three-point, ascending scale.

IMWM warnings of the second degree – storms

Second degree warnings ahead storms valid in the following voivodeships:

  • Pomeranianoutside the western counties;
  • Warmia-Masuriaoutside the eastern counties;
  • Greater Polandoutside the northern counties;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian;
  • Masovianin the western counties;
  • Lodz;
  • Lower Silesianoutside the north-western counties;
  • Lesser Polandin the north-western counties.

Thunderstorms are forecast there, which in places will be accompanied by very heavy rainfall from 35 to 55 l/sq m and wind gusts of up to 90 km/h, in places up to 100 km/h. Locally, hail will fall. The alarms will be valid until 5 a.m. on Thursday.

IMWM first degree warnings – storms

First-degree storm alerts are in effect in the following provinces:

  • lubuskie;
  • Opole;
  • Silesian;
  • Lesser Polandin the north-western counties;
  • Świętokrzyskiein the western part of the voivodeship.

Thunderstorms are forecast there, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall from 20 to 35 l/m2 and wind gusts of up to 80-85 km/h. Locally, hail will occur. The alarms will be valid until Thursday from 3-5 am.

IMWM warnings of the second degree – heat

Second-degree heat warnings were issued for the following provinces:

  • Warmia-Masuria;
  • Podlaskie;
  • Masovian;
  • Lublin;
  • Subcarpathian;
  • Lesser Poland;
  • Świętokrzyskie;
  • Lodzin the eastern counties.

The maximum temperature will be from 31 to 35 degrees Celsius. At night, the thermometers will show a minimum of 17 to 23 degrees Celsius. The warnings will be valid until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Second degree warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing large material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence significantly limit the conduct of business. Expect disruptions in everyday functioning. Great caution is recommended, the need to track messages and the development of the weather situation. Follow all recommendations issued by the rescue services in the event of a threat.
