IMGW has issued first and second degree alerts. Forecasters are warning of storms that will be accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds. Check where the weather will be dangerous.

Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued second and first degree meteorological warnings on a three-point, ascending scale and a weather threat forecast.

IMWM warnings of the second degree – storms

Second degree warnings ahead storms issued for the province Lower Silesiafor the following counties: Zgorzelec, Lubań, Lwówek, Złotoryja, Karkonosze, Jelenia GoraKamienna Góra.

In these areas, storms are forecast, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall from 30 to 40 liters of water per square meter and wind gusts reaching speeds of about 70 kilometers per hour. Locally, small hail may fall.

The alarms will be in effect from Wednesday from 11 p.m. to Thursday at 6 a.m.

IMWM first degree warnings – storms

First-degree storm alerts are in effect in the following provinces:

  • West Pomeranianin the western and central counties;
  • lubuskie;
  • Lower Silesianoutside the counties covered by higher level alerts;
  • Opolein the counties of Nysa, Brzesko, Namysłów;
  • Greater Polandin the west of the voivodeship.

Thunderstorms are forecast, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall from 20 to 35 l/sq m and wind gusts of up to about 70 km/h. Locally, small hail may fall.

The alerts will be in effect on Thursday from 2-9am.

On Thursday, IMWM plans to issue further first-degree storm warnings for the following provinces:

  • Warmia-Masuria;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship;

  • Lodz;
  • Lower Silesiain the OleÅ›nica and OÅ‚awa poviats;
  • Opole;
  • Silesian;
