The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns against dense fog and freezing precipitation. Road conditions are particularly difficult in the southern and northern regions of the country.
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.
IMWM warnings – dense fog
First degree warnings due to fog apply in the following voivodeships:
- Lubuskiein the following poviats: Zielona Góra, Zielona GóraNowy Sól, Żary and Żagań;
- Lower Silesiain the following counties: Zgorzelec, Bolesławiec, Lubań, Lwówek, Złotoryja, Karkonosze, Jelenia GóraKamienna Góra, Wałbrzych, WałbrzychJawor, Świdnica, Dzierżoniów, Strzelin, Ząbkowice, Kłodzko;
- Silesianoutside the following counties: Kłobuck, Częstochowa and Częstochowa;
- Opole provincein the following counties: Nysa, Prudnik, Głubczyce, Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Krapkowice, Strzelin;
- Lesser Polandoutside the Tatra County;
- Podkarpackie, except for Lubaczów County;
- Świętokrzyskieoutside Końskie County.
Dense fog is forecast, freezing locally, with visibility in places below 100 m. Roads and sidewalks will be slippery when the temperature drops.
The warnings will be valid until 9 a.m.
IMWM warnings – freezing precipitation
Against slippery surfaces IMWM also warns in other regions. Yellow warnings against freezing precipitation apply to the following voivodeships:
- Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeshipcounties: Nakło, Sępolno, Tuchola, Świecie;
- Pomeraniancounties: Człuchów, Chojnice, Starogard, Kościerzyna, Kartuzy.
Light freezing drizzle is forecast, causing black ice. The warnings will be valid until 9 a.m.
What are IMWM first degree warnings?
Conditions are expected to favor the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
