IMWM warns. Beware of thick fog and strong winds

IMWM warns about strong winds, gusts of which can reach speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour on the coast. There will also be dense fog locally at night.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first-level warnings on a three-level, ascending scale.

IMWM warnings – strong wind

Yellow alerts for strong winds apply in the following voivodeships:

  • West Pomeranian Voivodeshipin the following counties: Koszalin, Sławno;
  • Pomeranianin the following counties: Słupsk, Lębork, Wejherowo, Puck.

In the coastal zone, strong winds from the southwest and west are expected, with an average speed of up to 35 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 70 km/h.

The alarms will be in force on Monday from 2-10.

IMWM warnings – dense fog

Level 1 warnings of dense fog have been issued for the following voivodeships:

  • Lesser Polandfor poviats: Tarnów, TarnówDąbrowski;
  • Podkarpackiefor the northern part of the voivodeship;
  • Świętokrzyskieoutside counties
  • Lublin Provincefor southern counties.

Dense fog is forecast in these regions, with visibility limited to 100 meters in some places. The warnings will be in force until 3 on Monday.

What are IMWM first degree warnings?

The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by road traffic, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
